14-08-2002 - Dinand announces winner South-Africa trip.
As I mentioned before, Dinand was a guest of MTV-live this afternoon. Not personally, but by phone, from "a boat in the middle of nowhere" like he called his vacation residence.
Unfortunately for everyone who is not the Marcel who was on the phone during the broadcast... this Marcel has won the trip to South-Africa. Congratulations, and if you would happen to make some nice pictures, this website recommends itsself to put them online ofcourse...

Dinand gave a little summery of the whole SOS Save-Our-Planet campaign and also announched that they will participate in other things that will happen around this campaign. He even mentioned a performance at the dutch government ("2de kamer").

At last, next saturday it will be happening again. After almost a month, Kane will be on stage again.
This time they will play in Germany, at the Bizarre
Kane will hit the stage at 12.30 uur as the opening act of the "second stage". The festival is held on the airport of Weeze, just across the dutch border between Nijmegen and Venlo.
Ofcourse the pictures of this festival will be online as quick as possible. When I have the time, maybe on saturday evening already, otherwise you can find them here on monday at the latest.
12-08-2002 - Festival update
Two weeks ago I mentioned on this site that Kane could be playing on another festival in holland in september (see story 30-7).
Today I received as an answer to my question how things were going the reaction from the festival organization ; "Unfortunately nothing known yet. Depends fully on their international agenda."
Not a definitive no, but no confirmation either.
I'll keep you posted..
11-08-2002 - Creative minds..
To maintain an own website brings me to a whole lot of other kane fan-sites. Very often they have the news that I just missed.
But today I ran into a couple of very nice things, which I want to give some extra attention. For you all, because you shouldn't miss this, and for the "creators" because they deserve it !!

Beneath pictures are made because of the new single of Kane, in perfect combination with the whole WWF campaign.
Enjoy, and click on the pictures to go to the site of the creators. Let them know what you think of it in their guest books for example..

10-08-2002 - South-Africa Update
At the official website of Kane, you can find an article about the campaign of the World Wildlife Fund which Kane will participate in.

A little quote from this article (translated);

Kane and DJ Jean
The pop artists Kane and DJ Jean are the Dutch ambassaders of the campaign. Singer Dinand Woesthoff from Kane: “The message of the SOS Planet campaign is very simulair to our song ‘Hold on to the world’. This is a song about the symbolic good and evil of the environment and humanism. The chorus can be interpretated as a clear call not to give up hope and to fight for this world. We think it's very great that we are in the position that we can contribute to such a positive campaign with our music”.

Look at the site of MTV and see how you can win a trip to Johannesburg with Kane !!!
08-08-2002 - "Hold On To The World" new single
On the site of Ellen you can read that radio 3FM announched that "Hold On To The World" will be the new single of Kane.
After So Glad You Made It, Let It Be, and Rain Down On Me, this will be the fourth single of the still very successfull 2nd album "So Glad You Made It"

In the albumcharts, both records are slipping some numbers. "So Glad You Made It" from 13 to 18, and "As Long As You Want This" from 26 to 28.
The single "Rain Down On Me" still maintains in the MegaTop100. In its 11th week it loses four places from 74 to 78.

MTV Netherlands will give attention to the journey Kane will make to South Africa. Ellen already mentioned yesterday that also radio 3FM will join the band to Johannesburg.
It seems that we at least can enjoy the adventures of the band overthere.
In the Telegraaf, was an article today about the campaign with Kane.

01-08-2002 - Chart news (Peru)
Jose Araujo Salas is from Peru, and has some websites with all kind of international charts. It looks like he knows a lot about the current music-scene, because in his own personal top100, all kinds of nationalities are represented. Titles in Englisch, French, Deutsch, Spanisch even Dutch..

But hey... what do I see on nr 5 in his list ?
A band called "KANE" with "Rain Down On Me" !!

Some time ago I spotted "Let It Be" in his list (nr 91 in the 11th week then), so it is obvious that he has a very good taste in music.

31-07-2002 - Kane with WWF to Johannesburg (South-Africa)
A new date for a foreign show. Only this time its a far way from home..

Kane will perform in Johannesburg on the 23th of august this year. It should be a 6-day trip for the band on invitation of the World Wildlife Fund (NL-Wereld Natuur Fonds).

And just in case you're wondering...
no, the chance that this photographer will travel all the way to South-Africa is not to big. (still looking for a sponsor.. / a bank-account for all contributions will be opened soon..)

30-07-2002 - Another festival this year ?
Could it be that there will be another performance this year after all ?
During the last shows, Dinand told the public that these were the last gigs for this year.
But yesterday and today I heard that a dutch festival is working very hard to get Kane at their Line Up in September.

Within two weeks it will be clear whether we were hoping to much, or that we have another festival to go to.
I will keep you posted...

30-07-2002 - Album Charts
In the album top100 for week 31, both albums of Kane are in the top 30 !

- So Glad You Made It                   ; nr 13 (last week 12) in the 38th week.

30-07-2002 - Nice single comment from Finland
KANE: So glad you made it (vuoden paras rockkappale on tässä, erittäin vetävä rytmi saa jokaisen heilumaan mukana-toimii tanssittavanakin)

This is the comment of a Finnish website of a recordstore (at least I think it is a record store) on the SGYMI single... (march 2002)
With some help of Ester, the translation would be ;

"This is the best rock song of the year, a very swinging rythm which makes everybody move- even dance."
